Explore the various approaches to fantasy and science fiction. Examine the sub-genres as they function in both adult and teen fiction, and identify the questions that every genre writer must ask themselves in order to create effective genre fiction. The fantastic genres are otherworldly by definition, and yet only by developing identifiable characters and crafting a tangible reality can we give weight and consequence to the unfolding story.
The 2011 Unicorn Writers' Conference welcomed Daniel Waters. He is the author of the Generation Dead series, which includes Generation Dead, Kiss of Life, and Passing Strange. Generation Dead was shortlisted for the Sheffield Children's Book Award and was a 2008 Kirkus Best Book of the Year.
