Writing for the Children's Market
Gina Shaw is a 2 year veteran of the Unicorn Writers' Conference and well received by conference attendees. As Editorial Director of Book Club Original Publishing at Scholastic Inc., leading a group responsible for creating more than 180 books a year for use in all of the Scholastic Book Clubs, Gina has worked with children's literature in every form for every age from Pre-K to middle school. In addition to her rich editorial expertise, she is an author of several children's books--pictures books, easy readers, and early chapter books.
Gina is currently teaching a Continuing Education class at Hofstra University on How to Write a Children's Book, and she appears as a guest speaker at schools and libraries about the writing process, how a book is made, and what an author and editor do. She also critiques manuscripts for both new and seasoned authors and continues to freelance edit children's books for several publishers.
